Refillable Packaging
We spend as much time on our sustainability efforts and packaging design as we do on our product, and you have our commitment that we are always at work on solutions that are better for our planet.
Reducing consumption reduces waste, so we designed our palettes to be endlessly refillable and customizable allowing you to make purposeful choices and individually buy only the products and shades you know you will use. Plus, what is better than having a palette designed by you and for you that holds all your makeup in one convenient place?

Sustainable Materials
We carefully select our materials with consideration of their environmental impact which is why all palettes and refills are made with PET and PP resin, the easiest to recycle. Additionally, we use post-consumer recycled content (reusing material that already exists in the waste stream vs. using new virgin material) as much as possible. Our face, eye, and mascara refills are made with 100% PCR material, and our palettes are made with at least 50%! Using post-consumer recycled materials can be more expensive and challenging because it's difficult to work with, and our packaging was the first time most of our suppliers had ever used our requested material composition.
100% Biodegradable Packaging
Ideally, packaging only lasts the life of your product, so we designed our individual compacts, jars, and capsules with a fully biodegradable material. After use, pop out refills for recycling with the Pact Collective and home compost or toss your empty packaging in your blue bin for easy curbside recycling. If you follow along on social, you may have seen us burying our compacts and powder jars in our garden where they completely turned to dirt in less than a year!
THE FACTS:
- All of our outer packaging and shipping materials are 100% PCR from FSC certified suppliers that practice responsible forest management.
- Dark plastic cannot be seen and detected by current infrared optical sorting during recycling, so we included a resin called Ampacet in our palettes and lipstick refills that allows the infrared sensor to see the material.
- Our components are "mono-material" which means they are made with one single type of material. Packaging that is mono-material is much more easily recycled, and in fact many packages that use mixed materials are very difficult to recycle and end up in landfills.

How to dispose of your MOB packaging:
- Recycle shipping boxes and packing paper in your home bin.
- Recycle the outer packaging in your home bin or remove and recycle the labels and home compost the package separately.
- Keep and refill your palettes!
- Refills are too small to be recycled at home because they are smaller than a yogurt cup, so drop your empty and cleaned MOB tube, capsule, and pan refills into a Pact recycling bin. Find locations here or use our Pact mail back recycling program if you don't have access to a Pact bin.

Sustainability in Progress
The beauty industry generates an estimated 120 billion cosmetic packages annually, most of which cannot be successfully recycled through your home recycling program typically because of the material composition or size.
We couldn’t find a suitable recycling solution for this hard to recycle beauty packaging, so we partnered with Credo Beauty and founded Pact, a nonprofit organization that collects beauties empties that can’t be recycled in your blue bin and prevents them from becoming trash. Pact is on a mission to address the massive environmental impact of cosmetics packaging and offer truthful information and education to help you make informed and sustainable choices.

Pact
We launched Pact on Earth Day, 2021, and we are so proud of the progress thus far! To date over 160 brands and retailer members from across the industry have joined, and together we have collected over half a million pounds of material!
There are now over 3,300 Pact bins where you can drop off your cleaned, hard-to-recycle beauty empties, so learn more about Pact at www.pactcollective.org. We all share one planet, and together we can make a difference!

We’re chemists, artists, and product developers and have our own MOB Labs which gives us the freedom and flexibility to create all day every day. We obsess over shades and textures and are committed to continuous formula innovation which is why we never stop searching for new technology and raw ingredients.

Conscious without Compromise
At MOB, clean, sustainable, cruelty-free, and vegan formulas are product requirements, and with our deep roots in research and development, we deliver on these values without any compromise to performance. Taking it a step further, we leave out silicones, petroleum- based oils, and micro-plastics that are still very common in our industry and instead substitute skincare actives and nourishing plant oils which we know are better for you and our planet but also offer superior feel and performance.
We take a product-first approach with the highest standards, never settling for anything less than artist-approved formulas which means great pay-off, smooth and easy to blend textures with no "fall out", and long wear (just some of our criteria!). We meticulously test and perfect every formula and shade with our community (including our pro-artists!) before launch. You can count on us for unique textures and one-of-a-kind modern shades.

Our Standards
We sustainably and ethically source our ingredients and leave out ingredients like silicones which don't bio-degrade and end up in our water supply harming biodiversity and our local ecosystems. We only use RSPO certified Palm Oil which verifies it was sourced from responsible areas. We only use ethically sourced Mica, and all of our suppliers provide a statement that no child labor has been used in sourcing or production. We are proud to be Leaping Bunny and PETA Certified Vegan and Cruelty-Free.
